Finding The Right Termite Pesticides

With the wide variety of termite pesticides available on the market today, there is sure to be one to fit your needs and help you exterminate whatever species you find yourself up against.  It is important to tackle the infestation as soon as you discover it as these pests can be extremely destructive to your home and its contents.

They are very small insects with a pale, white or brown color.   They commonly live deep within the soil with millions in their colony. They feed on the wood of your foundation, walls, and even furniture.  An experienced pest control company can assist you in identifying the type of species you have, and give advice as to the proper termite pesticide you will need to utilize.

It is critical to discourage further growth of the colony by setting a few prevention techniques into place. Most are attracted to high moisture areas, so it is important to eliminate any standing water, repair leaks in pipes, and guide any water away from your foundation.  Place a seal over any cracks in the foundation and building.  Piles of firewood, stumps, and other wood debris found around your home will need to be cleared.

Termite pesticides can be used either alone, or in combination with other methods.  These chemicals are applied to a shallow trench around your foundation, providing a poisonous wall between your home and the colony of termites.  You can apply the poison to small pieces of wood and use it as bait along travel paths. Fumigation is used in more severe cases, and involves wrapping the entire structure with tarps and filling it with a poisonous gas. No matter what approach you take, it is crucial to address the problem immediately and to act vigilantly until your home is free of these destructive insects. The longer they are left untreated, the more costly the damage will be to fix.
